Today, the General Body Meeting of the Handball Association of India was held at the Babu Banarasi Das Badminton Academy in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. In the meeting, presided over by Amal Narayan Patowary, Senior Vice-President of the Handball Association of India, Alaka Das—a prominent sports organizer and entrepreneur from Uttar Pradesh—was elected as the President of the Handball Association of India. It is noteworthy that this position had been vacant for the last two months.
The General Body Meeting, which was attended by representatives from 33 approved state associations of India, was graced by the presence of Tejraj Singh, General Secretary of the Handball Association of India; Dr. Anandeshwar Pandey, Executive Director of the Handball Association of India; Muhammad Shafiq, Secretary General of the Asian Handball Federation; Pitamber Timšina, Observer of the International Handball Federation; and Deepak Kumar Srivastava, a retired District Judge from Uttar Pradesh, who was present as the Electoral Officer.
In today’s meeting, the venues for this year’s national championships were announced, and it was declared that the Senior Beach Handball (Women’s) Championship will be held in Assam. Additionally, based on the directives of the Central Government’s Ministry of Sports and the Indian Olympic Association, a decision was also taken to form state handball associations within two months.
