The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has claimed that it constituted its Assam State Committee while its leaders and workers, including Ashutosh Ranka, were still in police custody.
Addressing the media, CJP’s North East Co-Coordinator Sheikh Sahil Uddin Shah said the names of the office-bearers of the newly formed state committee would be announced shortly. He claimed that despite the detention of several leaders and workers in Guwahati on Sunday, the party successfully completed the process of forming its state unit.
Shah further stated that the party had received a significant response from people across Assam for joining CJP. He also noted that the central leadership team, which had visited the state, has since returned.
Commenting on the FIR lodged against CJP in Palashbari, Shah said the authorities should focus on addressing the shortcomings in the education system rather than filing police complaints against those highlighting the issues.
Meanwhile, Raijor Dal leader Gyanashree Bora reacted strongly to the FIR filed against leaders and activists of the Cockroach Janta Party and Raijor Dal, who had visited a school to assess its condition.
“Instead of filing an FIR, the government should replace the damaged roofing sheets of the school,” Bora said. She alleged that the case was filed because the group exposed the true state of the education system.
Bora maintained that no coercion or misconduct had taken place during the visit and said the team had gone to the school with the support of local residents and guardians. According to her, despite repeated complaints by the School Management Committee and parents, necessary repairs to the school had not been carried out.
She urged the government to resolve the school’s infrastructure problems instead of wasting time on legal action. Bora further said that if the public extended support, Raijor Dal and the Jatiya Yuva Bahini would be prepared to undertake repair work at the school themselves.
