Phangnon Konyak appointed BJP national secretary

Nagaland’s Rajya Sabha MP S. Phangnon Konyak has been appointed national secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as part of the party’s revamped national team under BJP president Nitin Nabin.

Phangnon is among 16 leaders appointed as national secretaries in the party’s new national organisational team. Her appointment gives Nagaland representation in a key organisational position at the national level.

Reacting to the appointment, Phangnon expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Nitin Nabin for entrusting her with the responsibility.

“I am grateful to our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and Hon’ble National President Shri Nitin Nabin ji for reposing their faith and giving me this responsibility to serve our party as National Secretary of BJP,” she said in a social media post.

Phangnon also sought the guidance and support of senior party leaders, colleagues and workers as she takes up the new responsibility. She said she would work to fulfil the responsibilities entrusted to her.

Her appointment comes as the BJP reorganises its national team, with the party bringing in leaders for various organisational responsibilities.

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton congratulated Phangnon on her appointment and wished her success in her new role.

“Heartiest congratulations to Smt. S. Phangnon Ji on being appointed National Secretary of the BJP,” Patton said.

He said Phangnon’s experience, dedication and commitment would contribute to the party and to its efforts in serving the people.

Phangnon, who represents Nagaland in the Rajya Sabha, has been active in national and state-level political affairs. Her elevation to the post of national secretary is expected to give her a wider organisational role within the BJP.

The appointment also marks a significant organisational responsibility for the Nagaland leader, who will now be part of the party’s national team and work alongside other national office-bearers and secretaries.

Party leaders in Nagaland have welcomed the development, with Patton describing Phangnon’s experience and commitment as assets that would contribute to her new assignment.

The BJP’s revamped national team is expected to play an important role in strengthening the party’s organisational activities across the country, with the newly appointed secretaries entrusted with responsibilities in different areas and regions.
