Bag Containing Large Amount of Foreign Currency Lost at Airport! Passenger Finally Gets It Back

A bag containing cash worth over Rs 10 lakh, inadvertently left behind at the airport, was finally returned to its owner. The bag was handed back to the passenger through the coordinated efforts of the CISF, the ‘Lost and Found’ section of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, and Hyderabad airport authorities.

According to airport authorities, on June 26, during routine security checks at Terminal-1, CISF personnel spotted the bag lying abandoned near the Automated Tray Retrieval System (ATRS). Following security protocol, the bag was seized and handed over to the ‘Lost and Found’ section.

Subsequent inspection revealed 10,720 US Dollars, 175 Chinese Yuan, medicines, and several other personal items inside the bag. Authorities said the foreign currency was valued at over Rs 10.14 lakh in Indian currency.

Meanwhile, the ‘Lost and Found’ section confirmed the passenger’s identity with the help of the name written on the bag and details of the medicines found inside. A review of CCTV footage also confirmed that he had already boarded a flight to Hyderabad.

Following this, the passenger was traced by coordinating with Hyderabad airport authorities and the CISF. After verifying the necessary documents and proof of ownership, the authorities handed over the bag to his authorised representative.

Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport authorities stated that this incident once again reflects the effectiveness of the airport’s security system, coordination among various agencies, and the mechanism for safely returning lost items to their owners.
