A domestic dispute with his wife claimed the lives of two innocent children in an instant. A father has been accused of attacking his own two children with a piece of wood while intoxicated and overcome by anger. A 13-year-old girl and her four-year-old brother died on the spot.
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday at Ultachara Bru resettlement village under Gandacherra subdivision in Tripura’s Dhalai district.
The deceased children have been identified as Rishika Kha Hamti Bru (13) and Prih Smaina Bru (4). They lost their lives due to the assault by their father, Lalchunaoma Bru.
According to preliminary police investigation, Lalchunaoma Bru got into a quarrel with his wife Rantarung Bru on Saturday morning while intoxicated. When both children started crying at that time, the accused allegedly attacked them with a piece of wood in a fit of rage. As a result, both children sustained grievous injuries and died at the scene.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from Gandacherra Police Station reached the spot and arrested the accused.
The SDPO, Officer-in-Charge of the police station, and senior police officials visited the scene to supervise the investigation. A forensic team also arrived at the spot and collected evidence.
