Assam Police have seized heroin worth approximately ₹2.47 crore and arrested one person in a major anti-drug operation in Sribhumi district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Tuesday.
Sharing details of the operation on social media platform X, Sarma said the seizure was made during a successful operation conducted by the Sribhumi district police.
Appreciating the efforts of the police personnel involved, the Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking and illegal narcotics networks.
“No chamber is secret enough for Assam Police,” Sarma said while highlighting the seizure and arrest. He added that the government’s campaign against drugs would continue with full determination.
Police have launched an investigation to trace the source of the seized heroin and identify its intended destination.
