The allocation marks a strategic shift in the state’s leadership structure. Rameswar Teli, a prominent BJP leader, has been entrusted with the Transformation and Development department, along with Labour Welfare and the Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare portfolios—sectors considered vital to the state’s social fabric.
In a major change, Ajanta Neog, who served as the state’s first female Finance Minister in the previous term, has been moved to lead the Women and Child Development and Tourism departments. This shift is seen as one of the most notable adjustments in the new cabinet lineup.
Meanwhile, Atul Bora of the Asom Gana Parishad continues to hold a position of high trust. He has been assigned the Panchayat and Rural Development, Implementation of Assam Accord, Border Protection and Development, and Excise departments. Rounding out the list is Charan Boro of the Bodoland People’s Front, who has been given the charge of the Transport department and the Welfare of Bodoland portfolio.
