Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Shri Jayant Chaudhary, projected that the industry would offer employment opportunities to nearly 3 crore people by 2030. This optimistic outlook was shared during the annual convocation ceremony organized by the Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC) in New Delhi.
The ceremony, attended by over 270 certified candidates under various skill development programs including PMKVY 4.0 and CSR initiatives, underscored the sector’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity. Notably, individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community and acid attack survivors were among those honored, highlighting the industry’s efforts towards creating a holistic skill ecosystem. Minister Chaudhary commended the graduates for their perseverance and emphasized the sector’s rapid growth trajectory, outpacing global averages. He launched the B&WSSC’s commemorative Coffee Table Book, “Lakshaya-Transformative Tales of Empowerment,” celebrating success stories within the sector.
Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India the Skill Capital of the World, B&WSSC has trained over 13 lakh candidates, focusing on marginalized groups such as widows, prison inmates, and transgender individuals. The sector’s robust expansion, with a projected industry worth of INR 500,000 crores by 2030, reflects its pivotal role in India’s economic landscape.
