The state’s chief minister is working to develop Dima Hasao as a tourist destination

The Chief Minister of the state, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, and the Tourism Minister took massive steps, said North Cachar Hill Self-Government Council Chief Executive Member Devolal Garlosa. Debolal Garlosa, who officially inaugurated the sixth Jatinga festival at Jatinga on Friday around 3 pm, said that if Dima Hasao district becomes a big tourist center, the problem of unemployment in this hilly district will be solved. People’s ways of earning will be wide.

He said that tenders for road construction work at various places in Dima Hasao district have already been completed. Debolal said if the road is constructed from Mahur to Hangram, tourists will come to enjoy the natural beauty of Dima Hasao district instead of going to Cherrapunji. He said that migratory birds should be kept alive in Jatinga. Jatinga hills full of natural beauty have saved the people of Jaintia, Kuki, and Mar communities. Debolal said Amur falcon birds used to be killed in Umrangso. The killing of Amur falcon has stopped due to taking steps to increase awareness among people.

North Cachar Hills Self-Governing Council Principal Mohit Hojai, Executive Members of the Council Dhanpainon Khaosen, Samuel Changson, Paodaming Nuame, Dhrithi Khaosen, Fleming Rupsi, etc. were present in the opening ceremony. Meanwhile, Bollywood singer Ritu Pathak, Bombay Viking’s Neeraj Sridhar, and DJ Kaushis graced the cultural program on the first day of the Jatinga festival.
