Concern has been expressed by experts over India’s rising incidence rate of breast cancer. This comes as India’s incidence and fatality rates from breast cancer have been gradually rising, according to official data. In a legislative answer this year, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare highlighted NCRP statistics, which showed that the projected rate of incidence rose in tandem with the death rate, which climbed from 74,481 to 82,429 at the same time. According to the research, the states with the highest rates of breast cancer in 2023 were West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh. According to Dr. Pankaj Goyal of RGCIRC’s medical oncology department, sedentary lifestyles, urbanization, and increased stress are all major factors in the rise in health problems, including cancer.
Although a significant portion of breast cancer patients in India are between the ages of 45 and 55, or pre-menopausal, physicians are now recognizing that the illness may also strike younger women. According to experts, younger women are developing the condition as a result of growing lifestyle changes in metropolitan areas. Additionally, potential patients are learning about the diagnosis at a later stage of the malignancy due to decreasing screening rates.
