NFR opens a state-of-the-art laundry in Guwahati to improve travelers’ comfort

Northeast Frontier Railway has opened its upscale laundry care facility in Guwahati to provide travelers with clean and hygienic bedrolls, adding an extra layer of travel comfort. With the help of contemporary technology, the tunnel-based laundry system can produce high-quality linen and process an astounding 32,000 bedrolls every day. The products, which are meticulously prepared to guarantee travelers travel in comfort and hygienic conditions, comprise bedrolls, blankets, and pillow covers.

“The new laundry care center efficiently handles large volumes of linen while optimizing resources like water, power, steam, and chemicals,” stated Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR. The automated system maintains high standards by facilitating seamless transitions between cleaning phases. In a similar vein, the North Western Railway (NWR) has set up a state-of-the-art linen washing facility in Jaipur that can process 56 tonnes of linen every day.

Before being given to the passengers, all linens are thoroughly cleaned, washed, and processed, according to NWR Chief Public Relations Officer Captain Shashi Kiran. In order to meet the growing demands, plans are in underway to expand the facility. Officials from Indian Railways have reiterated that all linen used in AC sleeper classes must be processed using the most advanced technology in mechanized laundries. These changes further demonstrate Indian Railways’ commitment to cleanliness and providing its customers with an improved travel experience.
