Assam minister Pijush Hazarika has strongly backed India’s recent military action, Operation Sindoor, calling it a clear and bold message against terrorism and Pakistan’s continued support for extremist groups. In a post shared on social media, the senior BJP leader stated that India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi will never remain silent in the face of violence against its citizens. “Pakistan has faced a fierce and unforgiving response for its cowardly provocation,” Hazarika said, referring to the surgical military strikes carried out by the Indian Armed Forces. “This is the new India—resolute, powerful, and unafraid.” The operation, jointly conducted by the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force in the early hours of May 7, was a response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 civilians lost their lives. According to official sources, the strikes specifically targeted terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to dismantle infrastructure linked to the Pahalgam assault.
Between 1:05 AM and 1:30 AM, precision missile strikes hit multiple enemy locations. The Ministry of Defence confirmed that several terror cells were neutralized and Pakistan’s air defense assets, including installations in Lahore, were critically damaged. Minister Hazarika emphasized that India’s actions were not just about retaliation but also about setting a precedent. “Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India has made it clear: terrorism will be crushed with might, not met with silence,” he said. The government has also highlighted intelligence findings that link the Pahalgam attackers to terror outfits operating from Pakistani territory. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri reiterated that India remains vigilant and ready to escalate countermeasures if provoked further. Following the operation, Pakistan reportedly attempted to strike back, targeting areas in northern and western India. However, these moves were effectively countered by India’s Integrated Counter-UAS and air defense systems, preventing casualties and damage.
Domestically, several precautionary steps have been implemented. Schools in Punjab’s border districts have been temporarily closed, and police leaves have been suspended to maintain high alert levels. Additionally, the Centre has advised over-the-top (OTT) media platforms to stop streaming Pakistan-origin content, citing national security concerns. Speaking to the media, Hazarika said that India would continue to defend its sovereignty with firm resolve. “Operation Sindoor is more than a military maneuver—it is a symbol of a strong India that stands tall against terror,” he added.
