MSU and Assam Rifles joined force to empower armed forces families

In a landmark development, Medhavi Skills University (MSU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Assam Rifles to offer educational opportunities and concessions to the families of Assam Rifles personnel. This agreement aims to provide scholarships of up to 50% and allocate seats in MSU’s skill-based undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes for the wards and spouses of serving, deceased, and retired Assam Rifles personnel. The MoU was signed between the Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt. General Pradeep Chandran Nair, and Mr. Kuldip Sarma, Co-Founder and Pro-Chancellor, MSU, in the presence of Air Vice Marshal D. K. Awasthi (Retd.) at the headquarters of Assam Rifles in Shillong.

The Assam Rifles, India’s oldest paramilitary force, has been a core part of India’s line of defence. Notably, during the Indo-China war, the Assam Rifles played a crucial role in defending India’s sovereignty, showcasing exceptional valour and commitment despite overwhelming challenges. A significant aspect of the MoU is the prioritization of educational opportunities. MSU will reserve a minimum of 150 seats in its undergraduate programmes and 50 seats in its postgraduate programmes for the wards and spouses of Assam Rifles personnel. Furthermore, these beneficiaries will receive a 50% concession in tuition fees and a 10% concession in hostel accommodation fees.

The MoU also provides exceptional concessions for Veer Naris and the wards of martyrs, who will receive a 100% tuition fee waiver. Additionally, there will be an 80% tuition fee concession for the wards and spouses of gallantry award winners and retired Assam Rifles personnel who have received gallantry award medals or are battle casualties. On the occasion, Mr. Kuldip Sarma said, “MSU salutes and commends the efforts of the Assam Rifles. We are committed to improving the education and employability of the families of our brave armed forces. This collaboration paves the way for MSU to give back to the heroes of the North East.” This collaboration between MSU and the Assam Rifles underscores a mutual commitment to enhance the quality of life and educational prospects for the families of those who have dedicated their lives to safeguarding the nation.
