Medanta Hospital—recognized as India’s Best Private Hospital by Newsweek for six consecutive years—recently hosted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session in Guwahati, targeting paediatric critical care and respiratory illnesses. Organized in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) Guwahati City Branch and IAP Intensive Care Chapter, Assam, the initiative aimed to enhance clinical readiness in the Northeast to manage seasonal respiratory outbreaks among children.
Dr Praveen Khilnani and Dr Rajiv Uttam of Medanta, Gurugram, led the training, focusing on practical emergency response frameworks like the ABCDE assessment and highlighting a surge in viral illnesses including RSV, influenza, and mycoplasma pneumonia. The program underscores the need for integrated policy responses—especially vaccination drives, child nutrition programs, and state-level support for tertiary paediatric care infrastructure.
Local pharmacies and clinics are reporting increased demand for paediatric respiratory solutions and immunizations. Private hospitals are investing in equipment upgrades, aligning with policy goals of strengthening regional paediatric healthcare delivery systems. The Medanta-led awareness campaign is being seen as a catalyst for necessary healthcare reforms in emerging urban centres.
