Jaguar Land Rover sales decrease in first quarter

New Delhi, Jaguar Land Rover said on Monday that its vehicles dispatched to dealers in the first quarter ended June 30 fell 11 percent to 87,286 units compared to last year.

JLR said in a statement that wholesale sales in North America, Europe and the UK declined by 12 percent, 14 percent and 25 percent respectively in the first quarter compared to last year.

It said that the UK market has been most affected by Jaguar’s plan to discontinue older models.

The British brand said that its retail sales in the April-June period this year stood at 94,420 units, down 15 percent compared to the same period last fiscal. The company said that after a challenging quarter, sales have declined in line with the company’s expectations.

It said this mainly reflects the plan to discontinue older Jaguar models ahead of the launch of the new Jaguar, and a halt in shipments to the US following the imposition of US import duties through April 2025. Shares of Tata Motors closed flat at 688.85 on the BSE on Monday.
