In celebration of World Environment Day, Coca-Cola India has unveiled the #BenchPeBaat campaign, highlighting its commitment to sustainability and fostering community connections. The initiative, launched in collaboration with United Way Mumbai and Coca-Cola India’s foundation, Anandana, features 380 benches crafted from recycled plastic waste collected during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Each eco-friendly bench is made from approximately 50 kilograms of plastic waste. These benches are installed in various public spaces, including schools, colleges, parks, and municipal corporation offices across ten Indian cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Dharamshala, and Lucknow. Rajesh Ayapilla, Senior Director of CSR and Sustainability for Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, emphasized the company’s dedication to its global “World Without Waste” strategy. “Our #BenchPeBaat campaign transforms waste into valuable community assets, reducing environmental impact and promoting meaningful interactions,” Ayapilla said.
The campaign’s film, conceptualized by Havas People India, uses innovative AI-generated visuals to illustrate the transformation of waste into vibrant community benches. Arindam Sengupta, MD of Havas People India, expressed pride in the partnership, noting the campaign’s role in promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship. George Aikara, CEO of United Way Mumbai, lauded the initiative for addressing plastic waste and enriching communities with innovative street furniture, fostering social engagement and environmental awareness.
