IIM Shillong’s International Week 2024 celebrates global innovation and local culture

IIM Shillong recently hosted its much-anticipated International Week 2024, themed “Ideas Across Borders,” showcasing a dynamic blend of global innovation and local cultural richness.

The event drew a diverse cohort, including international students from prestigious B-schools, CEOs, startup founders, IAS officers, and academics, converging to explore new avenues of collaboration and learning.

Among the standout features of the week-long programme were immersive cultural experiences, where participants delved into Meghalaya’s vibrant heritage through visits to Tyrshi Falls and participation in the lively Behdienkhlam Festival.

Adding a flavorful twist, students indulged in local delicacies and engaged in a fruit wine-tasting session at Dial Muktieh Ramew Café, enhancing their understanding of regional culinary traditions.

Underlining a commitment to sustainability, the event included a campus tree plantation drive, underscoring the importance of environmental stewardship.

Beyond cultural and environmental initiatives, the International Week served as a platform for global networking, fostering cross-cultural exchanges and laying the groundwork for international partnerships.

Prof DP Goyal, Director of IIM Shillong, emphasized the significance of preserving green spaces, while Prof Naliniprava Tripathy, Dean of External Relations, highlighted the event’s role in spotlighting India’s educational diversity and cultural vibrancy.
