Cyclone Remal disrupts rail services in Assam: NF Railway adjusts train schedules

The Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway has announced significant changes to the schedules of several trains between Lumding and Badarpur in Assam following severe track damage caused by Cyclone Remal. The cyclone’s aftermath has rendered the New Haflong–Chandranathpur section, between Km 107/3 and Km 146/7, impassable, necessitating these adjustments.

Effective immediately, the following alterations have been made:

Silchar-Guwahati Express (Train No. 15616) and Silchar-Rangiya Express (Train No. 15612) will commence their journeys from May 31, 2024.Guwahati-Silchar Express (Train No. 15615) and Rangiya-Silchar Express (Train No. 15611) will start running from June 1, 2024.The Kanchanjunga Express (Train No. 13173), originating from Sealdah on May 30, 2024, will terminate at Lumding, ceasing operations between Lumding and Agartala.The Kanchanjunga Express (Train No. 13176), scheduled to depart from Silchar on May 31, 2024, will now start from Lumding, bypassing the Silchar-Lumding segment.

The Agartala-Secunderabad Special (Train No. 07029), scheduled for May 31, 2024, will start from Guwahati, with no service between Agartala and Guwahati.The Humsafar Express (Train No. 12503) from SMVT Bengaluru, starting on May 28, 2024, will conclude its journey at Guwahati, skipping the Guwahati-Agartala route.The Rajdhani Express (Train No. 20502) from Anand Vihar Terminal, beginning on May 29, 2024, will also terminate at Guwahati, not covering the Guwahati-Agartala section.The Thiruvananthapuram Central-Silchar Express (Train No. 12507), departing on May 28, 2024, will end at Guwahati, omitting the Guwahati-Silchar stretch.
