The 42nd edition of the Manik Chandra Barooah National Level Debate competition was held at Cotton University in Guwahati, with 20 institutions participating. The debate focused on the Union Budget 2024’s ability to address unemployment and inflation in the Indian economy. Cotton University’s team, represented by Rajdeep Mahanta and Swargam Mukuta Alam, emerged victorious. Mahanta was awarded the Best Debater prize, while Krittika Gogoi won the second Best Debater title. The event was presided over by Kumar Padmapani Bora, Secretary to the Assam Government’s Department of Tourism.
