On Tuesday, a meeting was conducted at the DC conference hall to discuss the Bharat Gaurav Utsav celebrations. The Union Cabinet officially approved Assamese’s status as a Classical Language, recognizing its historical value. The district will observe “Bhasa Gaurav Saptah” from November 3 to November 9. The Bhasa Gaurav Utsav commemorates the achievements of Assamese writers and scholars who have developed the language since the fourth century AD.
The forthcoming Bhasa Gaurav Utsav is extremely significant for the community. It is time for everyone to get together and appreciate Assam’s rich language and literary history. The decision is an important step toward acknowledging and maintaining the country’s unique linguistic legacy.
The meeting was attended by distinguished community members such as District Commissioner Simanta Kr. Das, ADC Sangeeta Devi, Assistant Commissioner Mithinga Daimari, the Principal of Haflong Govt. College Degree College, and the President of Assam Sahitya Sabha Sahitya Sabha/r Sahitya Sabha, among others.
