Attack on NIA vehicle in Bhupatinagar, 2 injured

In December 2022, three people died in an explosion at Naduavila in Bhupatinagar, East Midnapore. The Calcutta High Court ordered an NIA investigation into the incident. A team from the NIA went to Bhupatinagar early this morning to investigate the incident. Villagers attacked the NIA vehicle at Bhupatinagar in East Medinipur this morning. It is alleged that the attack was carried out to demand the release of two arrested Trinamool leaders. Two NIA officers were reportedly injured in the incident.

Allegedly, eight accused in the case were summoned, but they did not appear. The villagers gathered after NIA officers arrested Manobrata Jana and Balaichadan Maiti, who were among the accused in Arjunpur, Bhupatinagar, this morning. After this, bricks were pelted at the NIA vehicle. The car glass is broken. Bricks and stones were also allegedly pelted at NIA officials and Central Force personnel. This incident happened around 5:30 in the morning.

The police of Bhupatinagar police station reached the spot after receiving the information and handled the situation. In the end, however, the NIA officials left for Kolkata with the two arrested Trinamool leaders. The NIA has filed an FIR at Bhupatinagar police station in connection with the attack. The Superintendent of Police of East Medinipur said that the force was requested from them by the NIA in the morning of this day. But before the police arrived, NIA officials reached the spot and arrested one person. That’s when the attack happened.
