Assam Police, in collaboration with other security forces, launched a significant operation to combat illegal weapons trading in the state, resulting in the apprehension of Dhan Bora, a former member of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), on charges of arms trafficking. Acting on intelligence, security forces initiated a late-night search operation starting from the Doomdooma bridge in Tinsukia district. The operation led them to Bora’s residence in Kordoiguri Borgorah, where he was subsequently arrested.

During the raid, authorities uncovered damning evidence, including an American pistol and 12 rounds of live ammunition, highlighting the imminent threat posed by Bora’s possession of illegal firearms. The arrest of Dhan Bora is viewed as a significant milestone in the state police’s efforts to curb the illicit trade of firearms and ammunition in Assam. This crackdown underscores their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region.

Ongoing investigations seek to determine the extent of Bora’s involvement in illegal activities and uncover any potential associates or networks associated with him, shedding light on the broader impact of arms trafficking in the area.
