Assam expects major boost in tourism for 2024-25 season

Assam is gearing up for a major influx of tourists in the upcoming 2024-25 season, according to Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah. Speaking at the inauguration of Manas National Park for the new tourist season on World Tourism Day, the minister expressed optimism about a surge in visitor numbers.

“With its breathtaking landscapes and rich biodiversity, Assam is set to witness a substantial increase in tourist arrivals this season. This will not only promote eco-tourism but also benefit the local economy,” Baruah shared on social media platform X.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also expressed confidence, revealing that the state saw nearly one crore visitors in the 2023-24 fiscal year. “Assam is a paradise of natural beauty, spiritual sites, and adventure. In 2023-24, we welcomed almost one crore tourists, and we invite everyone to experience #AwesomeAssam this festive season,” he said.

To mark the occasion, Minister Baruah participated in an exhilarating rafting experience on the Beki River alongside BTC Chief Pramod Boro and also took part in a plantation drive. “Manas National Park is ready to provide unforgettable experiences and showcase the best of Assam’s natural beauty,” he added.
