Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is expected to travel to the Karbi Anglong district to officially launch a number of development projects that total more than Rs 100 crore. These efforts, the Chief Minister underlined, are intended to honor local unsung heroes and improve connection in the area. CM Sarma said on X: “I will soon be in Karbi Anglong to dedicate a number of projects valued at more than Rs 100 crore to the people. These initiatives will improve the region’s aesthetic appeal, increase connection, and honor unsung heroes in a worthy manner. The projects signal a new stage of development and are meant to honor local tradition and enhance the area’s natural and cultural beauty.
The Assam chief minister revealed intentions the day before to make Gauhati Medical College and Hospital one of the nation’s biggest medical institutions. As part of a major restructuring plan for GMCH, he said that the new Mother and Child Care Hospital on the GMCH grounds will offer state-of-the-art therapy and specialized pediatric care. The hospital will have 800 beds. The Pragjyotishpur Medical College and Hospital, which is anticipated to open by August 15 of this year, was also visited by the Chief Minister. Sarma also highlighted the Assam government’s efforts to preserve traditional religions, noting that over Rs 40 crore had been allocated over the past two years to support indigenous peoples’ temples and places of worship.
