Despite Audit Revealing Major Irregularities, Agriculture Department Fails to Act on ₹65.49 Crore PM-KISAN Scam

An RTI application highlighted 2,31,225 ineligible beneficiaries, with significant numbers from Thoubal, Kakching, and Churachandpur districts. During a Manipur Information Commission hearing, a Nodal Officer revealed a drop in genuine beneficiaries to below 50,000, indicating extensive fraud. A recent circular issued by the former Director of Agriculture required ineligible beneficiaries to refund the disbursed funds by August 2025, but no legal action has been taken against the beneficiaries or the officials involved in approving fraudulent registrations. This situation reflects a systemic failure, where accountability is lacking, and efforts to recoup lost public funds are ineffective.
