Amritpal Singh, ‘Waris Punjab De’ Chief, moves from Dibrugarh jail to Delhi, oath ceremony today

Amritpal Singh, the leader of ‘Waris Punjab De’ and newly elected MP from Khadoor Sahib, Punjab, is poised to take oath as a Member of Parliament today. Emerging victorious in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate, Singh triumphed over Congress contender Kulbir Singh Zira by a resounding margin of 1,97,120 votes.

Singh, formerly detained as a radical Sikh preacher at Dibrugarh jail in Assam, has been relocated to Delhi for his parliamentary swearing-in ceremony. His electoral success underscores a significant shift in Punjab’s political landscape, highlighting widespread grassroots support for independent voices.
