Agarwood worth crores seized on Guwahati-Mumbai train in Bongaigaon raid

Authorities conducted a successful raid on July 4 aboard a train traveling from Guwahati to Mumbai, seizing 45 bags of agarwood worth crores. The operation took place during the night at Bongaigaon railway station.

Agarwood, renowned as one of the world’s most expensive woods, possesses medicinal properties including as a stimulant, antiasthmatic, carminative, tonic, aphrodisiac, and astringent. It finds use in treating conditions such as diarrhoea, dysentery, gout, rheumatism, and paralysis.

The seized items comprised 41 bags of dried agarwood pieces and 4 cartons of agaru oil, transported aboard the New Bongaigaon GRPF’s Nammanya Tilak Express.
