SSB Guwahati Celebrates Raksha Bandhan, Promotes Social Harmony

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Frontier Guwahati celebrated Raksha Bandhan as ‘Raksha Parv’ with enthusiasm at its headquarters on Friday, highlighting the festival’s message of social harmony and the bond between security personnel and the public. During the programme, women tied rakhis on the wrists of SSB officers and personnel and conveyed their wishes for their health, happiness and long lives, while expressing gratitude for their service in safeguarding the nation’s borders. Addressing the gathering, Deputy Inspector General (Administration) H.B.K. Singh said Raksha Bandhan represents not only the bond of love and trust between siblings but also social harmony, mutual cooperation and a sense of national duty. He thanked Seemant Chetna Manch (Northeast) for organising the event and said such programmes help strengthen the emotional connection between the security forces and local communities. Singh also highlighted the SSB’s role beyond border security, particularly its efforts to support development and empower communities along the India-Bhutan border. The force conducts skill-development initiatives aimed at making local residents, especially women and youth, more self-reliant, including training in tailoring, beekeeping, mushroom cultivation and beauty and beautician services.
