Sri Lanka fought bravely in the morning session, but Manav Suthar’s brilliant spell after Lunch powered India to a 165-run victory in the Galle Test.
Dhananjaya de Silva and Sonal Dinusha stood firm early on, frustrating India with disciplined defence and a 95-run partnership. Ravindra Jadeja finally ended their resistance by dismissing de Silva, while Prasidh Krishna accounted for Niroshan Dickwella.
Sri Lanka reached Lunch at 175/6, but the momentum disappeared immediately after the interval.
Suthar struck soon after returning to the attack, removing Dinusha and then ripping through the tail. Prabath Jayasuriya was bowled, Lahiru Kumara edged behind, and Keshara Nuwantha was cleaned up to give Suthar his tenth wicket of the match.
The young spinner finished with a memorable ten-wicket haul, helping India seal 12 valuable World Test Championship points. Rain arrived soon after the victory—but far too late to save Sri Lanka.
