In a humanitarian initiative, four Rotary Clubs under Rotary International District 3240, Zone-14, distributed relief materials to 200 flood-affected families in remote villages of Nazira sub-division in Assam’s Sivasagar district on Sunday. The joint effort aimed to support families struggling in the aftermath of the recent floods.
The relief campaign was led by the Rotary Clubs of Duliajan, Tinsukia, Naharkatia, and Doomdooma. Assistance was provided to residents of Tipumia, Chetia Handique Gaon, and Dhekiyal Pukhuri, villages that have been among the worst affected by flooding.
The Rotary team reached the remote locations with support from Sivasagar Additional District Commissioner Rannamay Bhardwaj and Nazira Assistant Commissioner Porchia Khanikar. Civil Defence volunteer Paul Baruah and local social worker Ananya Bordoloi also assisted in coordinating the relief distribution.
Each beneficiary family received a relief kit containing a mosquito net, 24 litres of drinking water, bathing soap, biscuits, phenyl, bleaching powder, flattened rice (chira), a bucket, a mug, sanitary pads, candles, matchboxes, shawls for women, and other essential clothing. The initiative highlights Rotary’s continued commitment to supporting vulnerable communities during emergencies and helping flood-affected families meet their immediate needs.
