93 Women Allege Rs 10 Crore Fraud By Pratibha Das Medhi, Accused Absconds Before Repayment

A major alleged investment fraud has come to light in Guwahati, where 93 women have accused a woman of absconding after allegedly collecting nearly Rs 10 crore by promising high annual returns on their investments.

The accused has been identified as Pratibha Das Medhi, a resident of Sarujoni Apartment, 4th Bye Lane, Pragati Nagar, Satgaon.

According to the complainants, Medhi allegedly collected investments ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 30 lakh from 93 women under the banner of a women’s organisation, luring them with the promise of attractive annual profits.

The victims claimed that Medhi had assured them their investments, along with the promised returns, would be repaid on July 8.

However, they alleged that Medhi went missing under mysterious circumstances on Monday, two days before the scheduled repayment.

On July 8, the investors gathered at her residence to collect their money but were informed by her family members that she was untraceable.

The victims have accused Medhi of embezzling nearly Rs 10 crore before fleeing.

Following the incident, the affected women lodged a complaint against Pratibha Das Medhi at Satgaon Police Station. Police have registered the case and initiated an investigation to trace the accused and verify the allegations.
