Assam Youth Football League Kicks Off with Thrilling Draw

Assam Football Association in collaboration with the Nagaon Sports Association, the first-ever Assam Youth Football League (Under-13) began today at the Nurul Amin Stadium. The league, which follows a “double round-robin” format, is scheduled to run until June 6.
The inaugural match between Guwahati’s We Sports and Murkongselek United FC ended in a 3–3 draw, with both teams sharing the points.
The Participating Teams
The league was officially inaugurated by Hiren Gogoi, Treasurer of the Assam Football Association. The eight participating teams are:

  1. PJP FC
  2. We Sports
  3. Bodofa FC
  4. Guwahati United
  5. Kaziranga Sports Club
  6. Brahmaputra Dolphin
  7. Murkongselek United FC
  8. Guwahati Town Club
    The opening ceremony featured a welcome speech by Tapan Kumar Das, General Secretary of the Nagaon Sports Association. Several sports officials and dignitaries were present, including Ranjit Mahanta, Referee Head Ahiduj Zaman, and several others.
    The opening game was a high-scoring, back-and-forth encounter In the 3rd minute, Nilabh Bora of We Sports scored the first goal.
    In the 11th minute, Roshan Ali of Murkongselek United FC leveled the score. In the 27th minute, an unfortunate own goal by a We Sports defender put Murkongselek ahead 2–1 going into the break.
    In the 50th minute, Roshan Ali scored his second personal goal, extending Murkongselek’s lead to 3–1. We Sports applied heavy pressure in the final minutes. Nilabh Bora scored his second goal in the 54th minute, and Pratik Sonowal found the equalizer in the 61st minute to bring the final score to 3–3.
    The match was officiated by referee Pavitra Borah, assisted by Apurba Borah, Chanu Basumatary, and Krishnakanta Das (fourth official).
