Tata Sierra, a well-known and nostalgic name in the Indian automotive market, was among Tata Motors’ first SUVs and has now returned to generate significant excitement. When the production-spec version was showcased at this year’s Auto Expo, it became one of the most anticipated launches in the country. Tata Motors has now revealed the SUV in full, though detailed specifications are yet to be disclosed. However, enough information is available to identify its key competitors.
The official price announcement for the Sierra is scheduled for November 25, and bookings will open on the same day. Expected prices are likely to range between ₹12 lakh and ₹20 lakh, positioning it against mid-size SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
While Tata Motors is tight-lipped about dimensions, the Sierra appears to be around 4.3 meters long, offering ample interior space with a bold, upright design that enhances road presence. Features are a strong focus, with a triple-screen layout, adjustable under-thigh support on front seats, reclining rear seats, 12-speaker JBL sound system, ventilated and powered front seats, and dual-zone climate control.
In terms of powertrains, the Sierra is expected to offer a 1.5L turbo-petrol engine and the 1.5L turbo-diesel already seen in the Nexon. With its design, features, and potential performance, the Tata Sierra looks set to challenge the established mid-size SUV segment.
